You’re Letting Things Slip

Watch your thoughts for they become words,
watch your words for they become actions,
watch your actions, for they become habits,
watch your habits for they become your character,
watch your character for it becomes your destiny.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson

One minute, you have everything under control.

Your prayer life is up to scratch, you hardly forget to pack your lunch and you’re on top of things at work.

Then suddenly, things start to slip.

The work deadlines start piling up, you forget to sort out your lunch a couple times a week and your prayer life just isn’t the same anymore.

Everything is a mess, you’re running after your life and you’re wonder, “HOW DID I GET HERE?”

One minute you have time to handle the important things, the next you don’t even have time to call your mom back.

At first, it seems like you’re in control and you have your ducks in a row but then as time goes on, things start slipping and you’re just not on top of everything anymore.

So what do you do?

You start by going back to the drawing board, you remind yourself of your goals, your destination and you get yourself back on track.

But…

You’ve done that 3 times already and it’s not working!

So now what?

Side story

One of the first things that attracted me to V (the Hubby) was that he was vegan, now I was a meat eater at the time that I met him but the fact that he was vegan alluded to the fact that he was disciplined and had a certain respect for his time and health.

Don’t ask me how I reach that conclusion, just know that I was right 😉

We always talk about our “Monk Days” those days when we had our mental, spiritual and physical priorities in check.

Our number one priority was to keep those 3 things in check before anything else.

Funny enough, those were some of our most financially successful days too.

Why?

Keep reading and I’ll explain.

When we’re busy trying to chase our dreams and our goals we often forget what matters.

We start putting the goal before our health, our families and our happiness and that’s where things start to fall apart.

It’s no coincidence that in today’s world, it’s the happy and healthy ones that succeed.

Why?

Because they never ever let the small things slip.

What important mental, spiritual and physical habits have you let slip for the sake of your career success?

Are you still waking up at the same time to go for your morning run?

Are you still making your morning prayers?

Do you still find one hour a day to chill with the kids?

It’s foolish of us to think that we can forgo these things to make time for the big dreams when it’s the small things that keep us in check.

The small things keep us aligned to our dreams, they keep us woke and they keep us healthy.

If we let the small things slip then the big things will follow.

You have to prioritize the small things and make time for them again.

Slowly but surely the big things will fall into place too.

So if you’re thinking of ways to get back on track, then look at the small things. What have you let slip and how can you get back on track?
